Have you ever wondered if there was a dream job that existed that was the perfect blend of your skill set and personal interests? Many would say that dream jobs doesn’t exist — or that they don’t want to combine a hobby with a career. In a recent study, Forbes reported on the unfortunate finding that about 52.3% of Americans are unhappy or unsatisfied in their job.
We spend the majority of our time in a work environment, or involved with work related activities — so finding a career that meets your personal and professional needs is essential in not being apart of this majority.
For many, finding a job can be limited to their geographic region, the economy, their degree, skill-set, and a number of other factors. One factor that was not mentioned, and should play an integral role in how we look at our careers, is finding a position that we are excited about.
Confucius once wrote — “Find a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” While I don’t think Confucius was thinking about dealing with the less glamorous sides of a career, the core of his words are still essential in finding fulfillment in a job. If you love audio and soundboards like we do at Blerp — then you will be interested to hear about how you can make a love of soundboards a career.
The more technical job title for “soundboard enthusiast” would be that of a “sound engineer” (much cooler right?). So what does a sound, or audio engineer, do?
The Balance Careers define this profession as such — “Sound engineers or audio engineers work on the technical aspects of sound and music production by mixing, reproducing and manipulating the equalization and electronic effects of sound.”
This role and skill set can be found in a number of industries such as the music industry, commercial/advertising industry, the film industry, technical roles developing equipment to better perfect the experience, and even the gaming industry. While many use their technical skills and experience to land them a role as a sound engineer, there are even opportunities to get a degree in this industry and study abroad.
At Blerp, we turned our passion for audio — and the ways you can communicate with it — into a product where others can do the same through our online soundboards and products.
We are firm believers that the audio industry is just getting started. So if sound engineer jobs exist, and an audio search engine like ours can exist, then there is a job waiting for you, or waiting to be created that is your dream job too!
